back from the north

Hello lovely you.

Yesterday I got back from a trip of a lifetime to San Francisco, LA, Toronto, Detroit and New York City. Played a few shows, but mostly met lovely and very helpful people on the way. In terms of shows, New York had a bit of a highlight being my show at the Bitter End in the East Village. The Bitter End has been host since 1960 to artists like Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, and more recently Lady Gaga and Jess McAvoy. The owner of the venue invited me to play again two nights later and wants me to return regularly.

I was pretty stoked with that. Canada has delivered a few touring opportunities next year and I am looking forward to potential there. All in all it was a very inspirational journey which brings me to my next point.

I have committed to writing at least one song about every place I visited on my trip, and have already completed San Francisco and LA. Starts have been made on Toronto, and two songs about NYC. may even try to chuck in a Melbourne Winter song too.

Now, I was thinking I might put a little E.P. together about this lil journey and I was wondering who would like to pre purchase such a thing. This will only be available to my followers on the internet, so please express your interest by e mailing me at jesmaq@jessmcavoy.com . Further instructions will be given out then. I will only be able to go ahead with this if I get a fair amount of interest, so if you think you would like multiple copies you will need to let me know. It won’t be ‘spensive, but let me know asap- and i will get cracking.

No more shows in Australia for a while, downtime to write and create.

Looking foward to hearing from you!

America

Hey lovely you.

America is amazing. I have been here before but I was not in the right headspace, and I really didn't have a ready heart for the kinds of experiences that I am coming across now.
I am hitting a lot of new opportunities, San Francisco is a beautiful place with a great scene, I managed to jump up and do a few great open mics while I was there. Next time I will have a few shows that will make sense I am sure.

Los Angeles is that for sure, the people here are warm, there are a few places that I have been stumbling across this time around that really feel like home, I am excited about my show on sunday night, and then on to Toronto for North By North East music conference and then two shows in NEW YORK CITY! check the "Dates" page for details. In the mean time I am adding some backing vocals to a record that my good friend from heavy pop band "Eye Candy" is putting together. Gotta love Dani Raushi.

Feeling very fortunate right now, I can tell you that for sure.

love and light to you,

jesmaq

Going to the conference

G'day all... I am currently sitting in the Airport at Melbourne, waiting for a plane to take me Away!

This trip takes me to Toronto, in Canada, via a bit of a look around in San Francisco, LA, NYC and Detroit.

I'm not really too nervous, mostly excited to meet good people and be inspired. I have a feeling I will be doing a lot of writing while I am gone too.

If you're not already a fan on Facebook, head along and sign up, I'll be attempting to post as many photos and videos of my trip as I can while I am gone.

love love love

Coming up in Australia

So coming up at the Retreat this Thursday Jess McAvoy and crew will be attempting a Lady Gaga cover, and filming the show to whack up on Youtube to show off to the world..

We'd love you to come on down and be part of the rowdy crowd, as I know you can be...

Also the 28th of May will be host to Jess' going away party at the Brunswick Hotel, a lil bit of a fundraiser, you see... so you NEED to come along to that, seeing as jess plans to withdraw from the Australian Scene when she gets back from the states. So come on down and honor this ambassador of the Australian Music scene, and help celebrate her contribution of the last 10 years, complete with PRIZES.

yay.
